Sheffield Yoga Centre

I have been a student at Sheffield Yoga Centre for more than 10 years. There is a great selection of classes for all abilities. I started as a mature beginner and have attended various classes which have all been excellent. I have found the teaching to be highly skilled and very supportive. The centre is well equipped and provides a lovely environment for yoga practice. Iyengar yoga helped me manage my osteoarthritis and the centre's excellent therapeutic class was key to my fantastic recovery from knee surgery.

I have been taking classes at the centre for 5 years and I absolutely love it! The quality of teaching is of very high standard, and teachers are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive and understanding. There are classes for all levels and the approach to yoga used at the centre is suitable for everyone, irrespective of age or level of fitness. Last but not least, the centre itself is a peaceful place, with the most relaxed and positive atmosphere. I would highly recommend Sheffield Yoga Centre, without hesitation!

This is a wonderful yoga centre with highly skilled and empathetic teachers. I have been attending a women’s intermediate class taught by Frances for many many years and love it. The Centre is light and airy and just being in this space makes me feel calm. Frances is extremely knowledgeable and excellent at giving helpful individual feedback to everyone in the class. She is able to offer adaptations to the poses to help with particular ailments or injuries. I wholeheartedly recommend the Sheffield Yoga Centre to beginners and the more experienced practitioner alike.

This is a lovely centre to practise yoga. Clean, quiet and lots of equipment. The teachers are very experienced and give careful and considered instruction always attentive to individual needs. I have been going here for years, I wouldn't go anywhere else for yoga classes.

I have been going to this centre for many, many years. The atmosphere is very welcoming, the venue has a calming feel and the teaching is superb. Frances and all the other teachers are so supportive and encouraging. As there are many different classes you can find the one that suits you without difficulty. You do not need to bring your own equipment as new mats, blocks, blankets, belts are there for everyone (and are cleaned after each class). I cannot recommend and praise Sheffield Yoga Centre strongly enough. It has supported me during recovery from mental illness and after my hip replacement and continues to give me strength and equilibrium.

Couldn't ask for a friendlier or more helpful leader. I attended a beginners course, and the diversity in body shapes and fitness levels was met with a thorough understanding of yoga, and how it applied to each of us as individuals. She fostered a positive and relaxed atmosphere in which each of us could learn together in mutual respect. I recommend this place to everyone without hesitation.

This centre is excellent, I have been going on and off since before it became the Sheffield Yoga Centre over 20 years ago. All the teachers are trained to a very high standard and can support you to achieve what you can no matter what ability or mobility issues you have.

I have been going to yoga classes here for several years. The teachers are always very professional and take great care of their students, they are most supportive in their teaching. I would highly recommend this calm and peaceful yoga centre as a great place to start or continue yoga practice.

Just incredible. I never thought I would go back after my five week beginners class but, I have enjoyed it so thoroughly I can't imagine not! Friendly, professional and clearly experts! A special mention to Liz who has been so welcoming and kind and truly made the experience more enjoyable. Looking forward to more classes and learning more at Iyengar Yoga.

I take 3 intermediate classes a week at Sheffield Yoga Centre. 2 in person with Frances and Bridget, in the centre and 1 virtually on Zoom with Pascale. The centre offers a beautiful clean and quiet environment to practice Yoga in a COVID safe manner. The quality of teaching is of a consistently high standard whether virtually or face to face. Cues, modifications and adjustments are offered on an individual basis to help students get the best experience of the practice regardless of their personal limitations. I would highly recommend Sheffield Yoga Centre to anyone looking to practice Iyengar Yoga as a beginner or wanting to advance their practice.

I attend weekly classes at Sheffield Yoga Centre and have been coming to workshops here for five years. It's a haven of calm as well as being fully-equipped, and the quality of teaching and events on offer is excellent. During the pandemic the centre switched to online teaching so that classes could continue through lockdown, and blended classes are now available, offering great flexibility. Classes at different levels allow you to progress, developing your practice of physical postures (Asana) as well as breath work (Pranayama), chanting and philosophical study. Highly recommended!

I've been attending classes here on and off for quite a few years now and I wouldn't dream of looking at courses elsewhere. The space and quality of teaching is extremely good. Care is taken over the tuition on every pose and personalised to your ability and any injury you may have. I'm currently attending classes in beginners stage 2 with Emma Norminton who I highly recommend.

I've been attending classes here since it first opened. Iyengar yoga has helped me with my aches and pains as well as a more steady mind. I would highly recommend yoga classes here. The teachers are excellent, knowledgeable and interested in helping students with their health needs/issues. It is very inclusive, no matter your size/shape/ability.

I started using the centre in 2013 after recommendation from a friend. I found the new starter class ideal and took up regular classes soon after. Yoga has helped me to stay fit for my other passion of running and I always recommend the centre to anybody who is thinking about taking up yoga.
